The Philadelphia Regional Limousine Association (PRLA) held its October meeting at Fred Beans dealership in Doylestown. Chris Burns, sales and leasing consultant at Fred Beans, welcomed the PRLA and provided a buffet dinner before offering a tour of the facilities. Members were able to explore various vehicles including Sprinters, the Lincoln MKT, Hyundai Equus and Genesis, and more. Limo Digest’s Megan Hogue and Liz Hunter also attended the meeting.

PRLA President Philip Jagiela updated the association regarding several items. He announced that the PRLA board is working to finalize the new bylaws and a draft will soon be submitted to the general membership for review. In December, the PRLA will hold two popular annual events. On December 11, members are encouraged to participate in the Limo by Santa toy collection and delivery to St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. The next evening will be the Monte Carlo Night holiday party, held at Twining Hall in Trevose. Attendees will enjoy dinner, casino games, and various raffle prizes.

Last month, the PRLA also turned out en masse for a hearing regarding the Philadelphia Parking Authority’s (PPA) regulations. It’s been an ongoing battle for the PRLA to relieve itself of these additional and unnecessary regulations when operators are already regulated by the Pennsylvania Utilities Commission. The seven-judge arbitration panel heard from both sides’ attorneys and will decide if the PPA’s regulations are unconstitutional, and if so, the panel’s recommendation will go back to Harrisburg. “Our attorney Michael Henry represented us well and clearly described to the panel what members of our industry have been going through in regards to these regulations,” says Jagiela. “He is planning to speak directly to our membership at an upcoming meeting.”
