MLOA Hosts First Educational Conference
in Atlanta

The Minority Limousine Operators Association (MLOA) held its first conference in Atlanta early last month. The one-day educational event was co-hosted with the Georgia Minority Transportation Association and organized by MLOA board member Darrell Anderson. Co-sponsors included American Motor Products, Towne Livery, and Create-A-Card.

The MLOA was extremely pleased with the attendance for this event, which included representatives from California, Virginia, Maryland, New York, Illinois, and others. The goal of the event was to feature a range of speakers that could educate attendees about various programs that are available to minority-owned businesses.

Stacey Key spoke about one such program: the Minority Supplier Development Council, which provides a direct link between corporate America and these businesses. Regional offices can be found at www.nmdsc.org. Those in attendance also learned more about writing RFPs, and of course were able to view vehicles on display from the sponsors.

“I was extremely pleased with the overall content of the program,” says MLOA President Maurice Brewster. “The speakers were right on point and the attendance exceeded our expectations. We gave our membership exactly what we promised when we started this endeavor: education, networking, financial literacy, and fellowship.” The MLOA feels that this was a great event and is looking forward to planning others in the years to come.

Be sure to join the MLOA at its meeting at The Limo Digest Show on November 12 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will include a panel discussion with representatives from Towne Livery, Reston Limousine, Cadillac and AT&T.
