LRT Presents Awards to Members
The Livery
Round Table (LRT) held an awards dinner last November to recognize
some of its members for their dedication to the association
and the industry. Darlyn Sanchez was given the Association
Leader of the Year Award. She is president of the United As
One TLC Base Owners Association and also a founding member
of LRT.
The major
award of the evening was the Man of the Year Award, presented
to Avik Kabessa, CEO of Carmel Car & Limo Services. Kabessa
was the driving force behind the formation of the LRT in 2008,
when the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) issued new
rules affecting the livery industry.
In a statement
from Guy Palumbo, LRT’s executive director, Kabessa is commended
for making LRT a force to be reckoned with. Palumbo says,
“What Avik has accomplished in such a short period of time
should be an inspiration and model for everyone…[he] is always
willing to share his knowledge, experience, and brain power
to help others in the industry.”
